A rare Charles II commemorative joined oak panel-back open armchair, initialled and dated.
The top rail carved with paired initials 'J O' and 'E O' and the date '1677', almost certainly carved to commemorate a marriage, atop a plain back panel, with bold downswept round-ended arms with punch-decoration, boarded seat and bicuspid-shaped seat rails, the columnar-turned front legs joined all round by channel-moulded stretchers.
