About

Houlston

Houlston specialises in period oak, vernacular furniture, antique textiles and works of art from the 15th century onwards.

On display in a private showroom, by appointment, is a collection of original, beautifully crafted period oak furniture, complimentary works of art and early textiles offering collectors and decorators a broad selection of items both exquisite and practical. Wishing to promote the enormous pleasure to be derived from living with and making use of early antiques, David and Carolyn believe in the importance of continuing to appreciate and use these beautiful items as a form of custodianship of our heritage.

David is well recognised for his expertise in period oak and metalwares, and he and Carolyn together have over four decades of experience. They are proud of their integrity and care deeply about delivering exceptional customer service. They met when young in the auction world and have built a life, family and business together working with antiques.

David spent 25 years growing the Oak department at Bonhams before establishing his own dealership, and has handled an unparalleled variety of important pieces of period oak and works of art. Carolyn completed a degree in Art History during which she assisted the furniture historian Christopher Gilbert at Temple Newsam in Leeds before joining Phillips Auctioneers, where she discovered her love for antique textiles.

Please note that the North Cotswolds showroom can be viewed at any time but an appointment made in advance is essential.
