A rare and impressive Elizabeth I joined oak open armchair, circa 1575.

Of rare design, namely the arms mortised into the front supports rather than on top, with a twin panelled back, the upper panel with nulled-carving, the shaped cresting with matching carving and a four-petal flowerhead to each projecting end, shaped ears, historic later seat board, turned front legs and plain stretchers, together with a tasselled squab of 17th century silk and linen damask filled with pure British wool.
