A particularly small Elizabeth I joined oak coffer, circa 1600.
Having a boarded top with double-reeded ends, a twin-panel front, single back panel and single base board, with unusual iron 'stop' hinges, namely with an angular projection to support the lid when open, a design mainly associated with 16th century chests.
