A rare early 20th Century box version of their brass “Weather Forecaster”.

Height 14.5 cm 

The instrument, which preceded the more compact circular version, comprises two, independently rotating rings, with two knurled knobs and a side lever enabling data on wind direction and barometer readings to be entered, and revealing one of 26 possible engraved forecasts in the window below.

Signed “Negretti & Zambra London. Patent 6276/15”.

Negretti & Zambra were undoubtedly the leading meteorological instrument makers of the latter 19th Century and early 20th.
