Ming late 16th Century Celadon bulbous tripod censer made at the kilns at Longquan.
The main body has an incised decoration of scrolling foliage and flowers under a thick green glaze. The inside has the normal cleared off area and the underside with an extended section from the base as is usual with a cleared off area.

The censers of this type are associated with later part of the Ming dynasty c1590
The tripod legs make it sturdy and would have been used for holding a sandy material for inserting 'jos sticks' in for religious or personal reasons.
