Chinese late Ming 17th Century Blue and white plate porcelain made for export to japan known as Ko-sometsuke.  Made during the reign of the Emperor Tianqi at the kilns at Jingdezhen.
The centre is painted with a bouquet of auspicious flowers including lily and lotus.  The sides painted with a stylized swastika pattern in a trellis design with four cartouches of important flowers, reflecting those found to the centre.
The underside painted with bamboo tips.
Like all ko-sometsuke the were deliberately added faults to appeal to the Japanese market and this has a slightly  roughened edge so appearing slightly nibbled.  There are no faults to the plate and are is exceptional condition.
Excellent example of this type.
Original part of an important Swedish collection.
