Chinese early 18th Century Famille Verte Large Dish made during the reign of the Emperor Kangxi c1700 at the Kilns in Jingdezhen.
The sides are slightly scalloped and moulded and painted with alternating panels of flowers with rockwork. The flowers are those which are important in Chinese folklore and include, prunus, chrysanthemum, orchid, and lotus.
The central section is painted with a Golden Pheasant on rock work surrounded by flowers and insects. The pheasant although is one of the twelve emblems of the Emperor as it is considered the symbol of authority , here it is representing literary refinement and official office.
Excellent painting and enamelling all exceptionally bright and clear.
