Chinese 18th century blue and white porcelain yen yen sometimes called phoenix tail vase, made at jingdezhen and painted with the sort after romance of the Western chamber.
The decoration is very unusual as the outline with the ruyi heads and the double 'smoke' line would imply the panels are part of a dream.
The painting is by an assured hand and is in three blue variations
to pot a piece and transport it is a very formidable feat and it was transported to the west with the East India companyc1700
Sadly one of its owner drilled the base to make it a lamp.
