Principally ash, with elm.
Having an upper half-splat pierced and cut in the 'Chippendale' manner, flanked by three tapering spindles, below a slender shaped and eared cresting rail, the three-part arm bow with pronounced scroll-shaped ends, joined to the seat with a total of eight further plain spindles and baluster-turned front supports, on four unusual turned legs, each with slightly inset centre, similar to a pestle, and morticed through the flat-fronted saddle seat.
A virtually identical chair, formerly with Roger Warner, Burford, Oxfordshire, is illustrated 'The Journal of the Regional Furniture Society', Vol. XVII, 2003, p. 50, no. 21. It is noted Roger Warner referred to 'saucer' arms on this particular type of chair.
