Chinese Export Porcelain Famille Rose Beaker Vases.
Yongzheng Period.
Circa 1730-35.
The Chinese Export porcelain vases are of hexagonal form with a tall, waisted body, each panel painted with a shaped cartouche enclosing either a scene of ladies playing musical instruments in a garden or birds and flowers.
The cartouches are reserved against a vibrantly painted prunus and 'cracked ice' ground.
Dimensions: Height: 20 1/2 inches x 9 1/2 inch diameter
Reference:
A pair of cover hexagonal vases with identical decoration, probably from the same garniture, were illustrated on the cover of a Cohen & Cohen large brochure (undated)- see photo.
A pair of covered vases are illustrated in Cohen & Cohen's "Bedtime Stories" catalogue, October 2004, Pages 10-13 from the same period with botanical panels of very similar quality.
