Reference: The Choice of the Private Trader: The Private Market in Chinese Export Porcelain illustrated from the Hodroff Collection, David. S. Howard, 132-133, for a strainer & Dish from the same service. Howard says this is from a Chinese Export service that is a direct copy of an original Meissen porcelain service bearing a large number of different pseudo armorials with different mottos. Howard mentions that despite extensive research, their meaning remains obscure.  It is thought that they could have Jesuit significance.  Much of this service was sold by Sir George Burns at North Mimms Park in the 19890s and may have come from his great-uncle, Mr. J. Pierpont Morgan.
