Chinese Export Porcelain Canton Foo Dog Candlesticks.
Circa 1840-60.
The Chinese Export porcelain foo dog candlesticks are modeled with the dogs seated on all fours with three paws showing and facing each other. The dogs with a goofy expression on their face are enameled with an orange ground with gilt decoration looking like fur. They have a short candlestick or joss stick issuing from their backs above an ornate saddle blanket.
Dimensions: 5 inches long x 2 1/2 inches high x 2 1/4 inches.
