Chinese early 18th century blue and white plate made during the reign of Kangxi at Jingdezhen.
Excellent decoration to show an official on a terrace behind a wall talking to two ladies below in the garden, probably part of a scene from the Romance of The Western Chamber. The scene is set at night with a small part of the moon showing and a constellation of stars.
The edge is painted with fronds of pine trees
The back is painted with a a six character Cheng H'ua mark
