Most impressive and excellent quality early 19th Century mahogany flat-to-the-wall bow-front Stick Barometer, in essentially original condition.
The case of finely patinated figured mahogany, with ‘ogee’ pediment over exceptionally well engraved silvered brass barometer register plate with rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The original concealed offset barometer tube terminates behind ebonised urn-shaped cistern cover.
The second generation of a highly reputed and successful dynasty of Italian immigrant instrument makers, which flourished from 1805 until well into the 20th Century. Anthony worked from his 4 Cross St. address from 1827-40.
