Rosewood teapoy of fine quality and provenance, the concave body with a moulded lid and the interior with two removable canisters and spaces for a mixing bowl and spoons; standing on a hexagonal faceted column onto a platform base on bun feet with concealed castors. In well-figured rosewood of high quality and in good condition. Circa 1825
A label on the underside of the base is from St James’s Palace and the teapoy is also stamped ‘VR below a crown’. The teapoy was most likely made circa 1825 but later became the property of the Crown [Queen Victoria ascended to the throne in 1837].
