THIS OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE IS OF EXCEPTIONAL COLOUR AND PATINATION, THE CARVED TOP RAIL WITH TURNED DROP FINIALS IS CENTRED BY THE INITIALS M.T AND DATED 1658. ABOVE A PAIR OF DOORS WITH CENTRAL PANEL EACH CARVED WITH LOZENGE DECORATION, ORIGINAL HINGES. THE LOWER SECTION WITH CENTRAL DOOR AGAIN WITH ORIGINAL HINGES.

THIS FANTASTIC EXAMPLE OF LAKELAND FURNITURE WAS FROM THE COLLECTION OF THE FAMILY OF LORD ALFRED TENNYSON THE FAMOUS ENGLISH POET. A PAPER LABEL TO THE BACK OF THE UPPER DOOR EXPLAINS THIS.
