The Magnificent “Mitton Hall” 17th Century English Oak Refectory Table. Circa 1640.
This wonderful and documented table originates from Mitton Hall, Trough of Bowland, Lancashire, built in 1487.
This fine example of an English mid 17th century refectory table stands at 14ft 3” long.
The wonderful top with two boards with cleated ends above a base with six turned legs united by stretchers.
The frieze carved with typical Trough of Bowland carving, above the central leg is a carved square incorporating the initials T.P. over M.P. most probably signifying the marriage of the original owners. Wonderful colour and patination.
