1950’s double pin vintage equestrian brooch of a driving bit by Mellerio of Paris.
Finely modelled in 18 karat yellow gold set with two cabochon emeralds and a white gold curb chain.
Signed Mellerio Dits Meller, numbered and with a French eagles head stamp.
Mellerio Dits Meller is a French jewellery house founded in 1613. It is still active today and claims to be the oldest family company in Europe.
It gives its name to the mellerio cut, a 57 facet jewel cut, shaped as an oval within an ellipse. They were the first jeweller to open on the Rue de la Paix.
