Édouard-Wilfred Buquet table lamp, France circa 1920s.
Very little is known about this Modernist designer yet he is one of the most sought-after French Modernist lamp makers of the Art Deco period. He designed his lighting from the 1920s. Examples of Buquet’s lamps were displayed in the 1929 Salon d’Automne.
Buquet designed the “EB 27” double-arm desk lamp in 1925, handmade from nickel-plated brass, aluminium and varnished wood. He was granted a patent for this lamp by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce in Paris on 9 February 1927. Buquet designed and produced different variations of these lamps until the 1940s.
Medium: Nickel-plated brass, aluminium and varnished wood.
