Good example of a known model by Maison Ramsay rewired but retaining the original glass uplighter fitting.
France circa 1940.
Maison Ramsay was a furniture, interior design and decoration company based in Paris. It was active from the beginning of the 20th century and reached its peak in the 1940s-1970s.Ramsay specialized in working with gilded wrought iron with glass, colored lacquers and sometimes in marble and stone. The neoclassical style of Ramsay generally has a timeless modern feel which has endured through the 20th century to the present day. Their pieces are instantly recognisable, fairly rare to appear to market and in turn quite desirable and collectable.
