A superb sterling silver handmade reproduction of a Hester Bateman (c1785) tea service made in London in 1969 by C J Vander. The service is beautifully bright cut hand engraved in neo-classical style and the swing handle sugar basket and the cream jug are gilded to the interior. The teapot is of generous capacity and holds over a litre ( just short of two Uk pints ).A beautifully made set and would cost a veritable fortune to make today !.A very faithful copy to the original apart from the teapot is a little larger in size and much heavier weight than the original.Excellent condition ( looks almost unused)
