Spode Porcelain 967 Pattern Large Chinoiserie Urn.

Regency Period.

Circa 1807-15.

This pattern, number 967, is one of the finest and most spectacular made in the Regency period of English porcelain.  It was first introduced in about 1807.  It is often described as a pattern in the Imari or Japan style.  This urn is one of the largest examples of the pattern made.

The Chinoiserie urn is superbly painted in the 967 pattern of oriental flowers and a fenced garden with a Chinese zig-zag fence in red, mazarine blue, green and gold.     On the shoulder are fabulous lappets with scrolls and flowers in the same colors and the foot is similarly painted.

The handles are large loops in a mazarine blue with gilt fish scales and the terminals to top and bottom in the form of a flower head.  The interior of the handle with an urn on a plinth.

Dimensions: 14 1/2 inches high x 12 inches wide at handles x 8 inch diameter (36.83cm high x 30.48cm wide x 20.32 deep).
