Set of Six Limoges Transfer-Printed Porcelain Cabinet Plates Designed by Salvador Dali, ''Le Conquete du Cosmos''.

Limited Edition Number 1639/4000.

Dated 1974.

The six plates, each with a different image, depict Salvador Dali's imagery of the conquest of Space including-

1. Philosophe escrase par le Cosmos,
2. The Montres Gelatines de L'espace temps,
3. Dali Martien muni d'un double microscope Holo-electrique,
4. Girafe Saturnienne,
5. Le Caducee de Mars alimente par la boule de feu de Jupiter,
6.  L'unicorne lazer desintegre les cornes de rhinoceros cosmique

“La Conquête du Cosmos” is a series of twelve original engravings with lithographic color by Salvador Dali. Science has always been a passion for Salvador Dali, and ever since the launch of the Soviet artificial satellite into orbit in 1957, the great task for humankind of conquering outer space was laid. The series depicts various scenes from the conquest of space.

Dimensions: 8 3/4 inches Diameter x 1 inch height.

Mark: The reverse with green printed LIMOGES/France in the center and a black printed description, naming the plate name, dimensions and number in series, these are 1639.  See photos for photograph of back.

Condition: Good with one, L'unicorne lazer desintegre les cornes de rhinoceros cosmique, with a tiny chip repaired invisibly at 2 o'clock (see last photo).
