A signed Nottinghamshire child's Windsor armchair.
This charming little chair is a fine example of a "Best Chair" made by the Nicholson family in Rockley in the first half of the 19th century and it bears the stamp NICHOLSON on the edge of the seat.
It has typical best chair features including a burr yew splat, notches under the arms, a crinoline stretcher and the distinctive turnings to the front legs. It is in yew wood with a well figured elm seat.
It stands 31 1/2 inches high with a seat height of 15 inches and is 18 inches wide on the arms.
