A lovely pair of ash and elm Windsor armchairs which are stamped at the rear of the seat TAYLORS GRANTHAM, a stamp which was made by William Taylor who worked at 11 Westgate, Grantham in 1813. The splats have unusual fretted flower shaped designs and they have crook shaped underarm supports and good thick shaped seats. They are robustly made and have excellent weight, colour and patination throughout. See The English Regional Chair by Bernard Cotton fig NE28 for a very similar example.
