A lovely early 19th century octagonal mahogany miser's snuff box, having a conforming brass lid which revolves and reveals a single or double circular aperture. The base has a brass plate which holds the pin, allowing the top to revolve. The brass front piece is engraved with the owner's name, H. Harris, Dartford and dated 1880. The whole has slim proportions for the pocket and has a good rich colour and excellent patination.
