Early 19th Century Pear Wood Figural Letter Opener.

An unusual early 19th century pear wood letter opener of traditional form, with an unusual feature of having a well carved and detailed sailor's head with bushy sideburns, glass eyes and flat hat. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.

Provenance: Desborough Collection.
