19th Century Naval Malacca Persuader.

An excellent naval malacca persuader, having a corded covered weighted lead end. At the other end there is a metal whistle, which is a most unusual feature and one that we have never come across before. These items were carried by naval officers and men for protection while ashore and also used when visiting ale houses to press gang revellers to join the service. It is in excellent condition throughout.

Provenance: Desborough Collection.

English Circa 1830.
