A rare pair of well worn 18th century birch sailor's netting implements, comprising of a hand held platform with eight holes to each side, that has a protruding handle and faint incised line decoration. The netting needle is a fine example, of a curved and rounded design, having a pointed end. The integral shaped flat handle, with a belt suspension hole, has carved capital initials to each side E.M.S. The pair have an excellent pale colour and patination.

Needle: 12.5 in. (32 cm.) long and 1.75 in. (4.5 cm.) wide.
