A fine pair of Arts and Crafts Norwegian birch love spoons, intricately carved with an open work design and having a scroll top with carved faces and animal heads. Each spoon has a faint inscribed design on the reverse. Both spoons are joined by a long open linked carved wooden chain. Chained love spoons were by repute always carved from a single piece of wood, which is a remarkable and time consuming craft. The whole has a pale honey colour and retains a patination.
Norwegian Circa 1900.
Chain: 23.5 in. (59.5 cm.) long.
