An unusual early 19th century stable candle holder, having a shaped triangular iron base. They were used in stables with the candle contained within a wire cage to stop it toppling over onto the straw causing a fire. It has a handle at the top for hanging and carrying and a centre section to adjust the candle height. It is an excellent example of substantial proportions and has a most pleasing triangular iron base, with a stamped foundry mark, anchor and initials C.F.
English Circa 1820.
