19th Century Rosewood Tail Docker.

An exceptionally well made rosewood and riveted steel handled tail docker of exceptional quality, having a cutting blade stamped, William Francis and Butler, London. This firm was established in 1751 at 101 High Holborn, London, as a wholesale druggist and chemist supplier. By 1888 it was trading as Willows Francis and Butler, describing itself as a wholesale and export druggist and manufacturer of pharmaceutical and veterinary preparations, and was later appointed to the Royal Veterinary College in London. It is a serious collector's item in excellent condition, retaining a good colour and patination. The whole is in full working order.
