A rare mallet shaped ash iron bound decanter, having a fitted wood stopper. The handle, with incised line and stepped turning, is mounted with a fitted flat sided stopper. The body, of mallet barrel shaped form, has three iron bands separated with incised line decoration and has a recessed base. The whole has an excellent grain, rich colour and good patination.
