A small chunky mid 18th century staved oak costrel, having two riveted iron bands and linked with a chain handle either side of a raised wooden bung hole. It has recessed ends, one with carved capital initials W.H.P. and also initialled again by the bung hole A.W. The whole has an excellent rich colour and patination.
