A good late 18th century barrel shaped lignum vitae coffee grinder, having a top section with a tall finial that reveals the spindle for the folding handle, which is housed in the lower section for travelling purposes. The grinding steel mill, which is in working order, is within the third section. The body has four bands of reeded decoration in an extremely decorative format. The whole has an excellent colour and patination.
