A most attractive and well carved signed and dated fruitwood dry storage container, having a fitted lid with a raised handle that is carved with pears, leaves and berries. The body is also carved with swags centered by a flower head and tied with a bow, with a further band of decorative carving below. The whole is raised on a concave stepped and vertical foot. It is incised on the base, 'A.R. Vincent A Thiron 1869'. The whole has an excellent rich colour and patination.
