A fine late 18th century five section lignum vitae double baluster coffee grinder, in full working condition, having a folding handle, which fits in the bottom section for travelling and when not in use. The top finial is in two sections that unscrews to release the circular platform underneath, to gain access to the interior for filling with coffee beans. The next section unscrews to reveal the metal grinder, and then to gain access to the ground coffee. It is turned from heart and sap wood, which adds to the attraction overall. It has a lovely colour and excellent patination.
