A good early 19th century lignum vitae tobacco jar of barrel form, having a shaped lid with an acorn finial. The jar, made from a single piece of lignum vitae, has six raised bands producing a most pleasing effect, and being made of both heart and sap wood, it has attained a glorious rich colour and excellent patination.
