An interesting and beautifully made brass and steel pointed plumb line weight, which came in various sizes and what is most unusual is that it has its original mahogany travelling case, that is in two sections and is of the same shape as the weight. The top, of acorn form with a small hole, unscrews with a protruding milled edge, and is hollow to house the knot for the line. The case has a good colour, grain and patination.
