Early 19th Century Mahogany Wheel Barometer.

A good quality mid 19th century wheel barometer in an inlaid mahogany case, having an engraved dial inscribed, C. Schalfino White Lion Court Taunton Somerset. This Italian barometer maker was related to John Schalfino, flourished 1840-1843, who also worked in Taunton during the same period. The top has an architectural pediment with brass a finial, a thermometer and silvered engraved dial. The case is of Sheraton influence with two floral circular inlays and two sea shells, all in boxwood and stained sycamore. The outer edges of the case is strung with boxwood stringing. The whole is in full working order.
