Portuguese Silver Model of The Santa Maria, Circa 1950, Oporto.
A wonderful handmade silver (.833 purity) model of Christopher Columbus’ ship The Santa Maria made in Oporto circa 1950. The ship which Columbus sailed to the new world in 1492 is beautifully represented with fine filigree work and enamel and is mounted on a dark green marble plinth. This superb model is in excellent condition and has the sort of handwork which will probably never be repeated (due to extreme cost).
