Piero Fornasetti Ceramic Barware Snack Appetizer Bowls.
The 1960s.
Each pottery barware appetizer bowl has a different design of items related to bar snacks- cheese, olives, onion, cocktail sausages, and almonds and peanuts. The name of the content is spelled out amusingly with letters and letters formed by the type of content, thus the cheese has the two E's in the form of E-shaped cheese chunks.
Each bowl has an inner gilt band and another around the exterior of the foot.
Mark: There is a black Fornasetti Milano/made in Italy on a black printed star with the hand and brush in the center and a gold workman's mark.
Dimensions: 3-inch diameter x 2 inches high.
Reference: Fornasetti, The Complete Universe, Barnaba Fornasetti, Page 560, #13, where the bowls are called appetizer bowls. Sold in sets of six, there were twenty-six different designs.
