English Pearlware Pair of Figures of Sailor's Farewell and Return.

The pair of English pearlware pottery figures are titled "Return" and "Depart" referring to an image popular at that time which was known as the Sailor's Return and the Sailor's Farewell. Each figure depicts the sailor with his female companion.

In the departure, she looks upset as he takes his leave with his possessions in a bag at his feet. In the return, she has cheered up no end as his stands on a box marked "Dollars" and as he offers her a bag of coins.

Condition- minor chips repaired to base.
