Dated: 1300 to 1400 Devon England
The barrel-shaped earthenware costrel ( a vessel for carrying liquid) was made at the Donyatt Potteries located in Devon England, in the 14th century period.
The costrel has handles with pierced lugs at the shoulders, allowing carrying by a strap from the waist. This rare survivor is in remarkably good condition with some professional restoration to the top of the neck and part of the handle.
