A late 15th century carved oak half-length figure of a male, English, circa 1480-1500.
Possibly a Saint, but due to the clean-shaven face could be secular, with downcast eyes, long curled locks of hair flowing to below the shoulder, collared undershirt and long-sleeved cloak or mantle tied at the waist. Old losses and traces of paint.
Provenance:
The Clive Sherwood Collection.
The Jonathan Horne Collection.
