Large Chinese export porcelain Bencharong bowl made for the Asian market (Straits porcelain) decorated in opaque enamels from the famille rose (fencai) palette with Buddhist themes in the Norasingh style of Thailand over a black ground, the inside glazed green, c. 1840, Daoguang reign, Qing dynasty, h. 9 cm, 3½ in; d. 17 cm, 6¾ in. 4-19271 Bespoke box.

◆ Bencharong can be translated as five-coloured, even if in reality far more were used. This porcelain was manufactured for the Royal Siamese court.

中國外銷粉“賓乍隆”大碗，專為亞洲市場訂製（南洋瓷），器身外部以黑色為地，繪泰國諾拉塞式佛教主題紋飾，器內施綠釉，約1840年，清道光，高9釐米，3½英吋；口徑17釐米，6¾英吋。
