James I oak table box.

Dating to the early 17th century, this rare oak table box has a mitred frame lid held by its original wire hinges and internally it has its original lidded till.

The front panel is decorated with excellent quality and unusual stopped nulled carving and the sides and back are panelled. It is superb untouched condition apart from the later hasp and lockplate and has a lovely natural patination.

The top rail bears the brands EB and WB.
