Dated: 1765 to 1770 Staffordshire England
The pair of baluster large-sized vases are made with a creamware bulbous shaped body with applied four lion head masks with suspended garlands above acanthus leaves raised on a gadrooned circular foot.
These impressive vases were produced at the famous Josiah Wedgwood pottery in the 1765-70 period in the early days of creamware production in England.
A similar vase illustrated by G. Blake Roberts, the curator of the Wedgwood Museum in her feature in the English Ceramic Circle Transactions Journal Volume 16 titled " To Astonish the World with Wonders, Josiah Wedgwood 1730-1795 ".
The quality of the work is outstanding as one would expect from one of the master potters of British Pottery in the 18th century.
