Celebrated map of the Americas and the Pacific Ocean by French cartographer Henri Chatelain. This grand map centres on the New World, with numerous fascinating insets and vignettes, including an Aztec human sacrifice and an army of beavers at work.

The map shows California as an island, despite Father Eusebio Kino's discovery in 1701 that it was indeed attached to the continent. This map was published in 1719, Amsterdam.
